New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Academic Advisor reporting to the Director of Student Advisement and Academic Resource Center.
Academic Advisors offer and support a wide range of services and programs designed to meet the needs of NYUAD’s globally diverse student body. The Academic Advisor exemplifies NYUAD principles of creating a student-centered atmosphere through the provision of exceptional academic advising for all new and continuing students. Primarily during, but not limited to, the first three (pre major) semesters, advisors serve as a source of information about placement, registration, degree requirements, major selection, and all other academic policies. They will orient new students to the rich ecosystem of mentoring, academic support, and student success initiatives available across the Campus and serve as liaisons between students and faculty mentors. Advisors may meet individually or in groups with students several times each semester to discuss questions related to academic planning and serve as liaisons with other offices providing student support and advising services (University Registrar, Program Heads, Global Education, Student Success and Well-being,
Academic Enrichment Program, and the Writing Center), to which they will refer students when appropriate.
Advisors will be expected to work with the Director of Student Advisement to orient faculty pre-major and major mentors, develop and supervise peer tutoring programs, and implement NYU’s new advising and mentoring platform, NYU Connect. Additional responsibilities will include conducting advising workshops and webinars for incoming and current students.
