New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Director of Graduate Admissions.
The Director of Graduate Admissions will lead the Graduate Admissions staff of NYUAD towards achieving the overall goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a diverse pool of the best and the brightest students. They will develop and execute a strategic plan that optimizes the classes across KPIs in quality, size, and composition, lead and develop teams that manage the Full-time Programs’ live marketing events planning and execution, diversity recruiting, digital marketing and advertising, and enrollment management, as well as the Customer Service and Operations functions for Graduate Admissions. Also, advise the Dean and consult as appropriate on broader program considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as leader and general manager for NYUAD Full-time Graduate Admissions. This involves responsibility for team culture and cohesiveness, organizational structure and reporting relationships, and job descriptions and hiring activities
- Prioritize people development to help others set goals and make progress towards their own personal development. Establish a physical admissions space that reflects the high-quality nature of the program
- Work with the functional leader(s) in NYU NY marketing to develop high-level strategy, objectives, and metrics
- Shared responsibility to build the strategy and spearhead the recruiting, marketing, and yield for the Program to increase the quantity and improve quality and diversity of applicants
- Position NYUAD as a regional source of expertise in US graduate education
- Develop a targeted outreach program within the UAE to create a pipeline of strong Emirati candidates
- Serve as NYUAD’s chief graduate admissions liaison to all local, regional, and national agencies, including NYUAD’S government partners, acting in accordance with local cultural norms and expectations
- Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment and yield strategies and activities (with market intelligence and analytics of our own pools) and make recommendations to the Dean
- Monitor budgets to control spending
- Forecast future expenses and prepare proposals for budgetary needs
- Work with the functional leader(s) in operations to develop high-level strategy, objectives, and metrics
- Shared responsibility to build the strategy and spearhead application/admissions process/policies
- Ensure consistent practices and policies across the Full-time graduate program
- Evaluate the effectiveness of application, interview, and admissions policies, and make recommendations to the Dean
- Participate in the development of a holistic strategy for the Full-time graduate program, jointly with relevant director(s) and the Dean
- Work with the admissions team to ensure the operating plan aligns with strategy
- Help develop policies and formulate strategies for improved scholarship and yield effectiveness
- Serve on the Admissions Committee to render admissions decisions
- Consult with various departments beyond Graduate Admissions (NYU NY and NYUAD Alumni Relations, Student Services, Office of Career Development, Registration, NYUAD Graduate Programs Office, and academic directors) on initiatives related to the Full-time Graduate Program
- Consult with Alumni Affairs and the NYUAD Career Development Center to identify and engage alumni in the admissions process, market the program, and increase opportunities for corporate presentations
- Consult with academic directors to determine how academic initiatives and curriculum changes can be incorporated into the marketing plan for the Full-time Graduate programs
- Consult with NYU and NYUAD Legal to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and laws regarding program decisions including financial aid. Remain abreast of financial aid trends and activities across both NYU and NYUAD
- Represent NYUAD and present at events as well as via media outlets (as determined in partnership with NYU NY Public Affairs and NYUAD External Relations)
- Partner with both NYU NY Public Affairs and NYUAD External Relations to determine PR strategy for programs and consult on best responses to media inquiries
- Lead special projects and events (e.g., develop surveys, prepare statistical analysis/reports, and serve as liaison with student leaders)
- Develop and maintain relationships with institutions of higher education and other admissions leaders to assess best practices from top ranking schools
- Investigate and implement changes to ensure the application of best practices and maximize effectiveness of recruitment processes to enhance the image of NYUAD and its graduate program
