New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Assistant Director, Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

 

The position of Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, is a newly created role in the Institutional Advancement (IA) team to support the growing portfolio of activity to engage and build a community of NYUAD and Stern at NYUAD Alumni.  In total there are more than 3,000 global alumni and over 2,000 current students who add to the alumni population each year. 

 

The Assistant Director will develop relationships with key university departments; Admissions, Student Affairs and Stern NYUAD, to recruit and manage alumni volunteers to partner and contribute to the future of the institution. The role will support events aimed at strengthening the connection of alumni to their alma mater and to build awareness and understanding of this lifelong relationship for all currently enrolled students.

 

The post-holder will also work with the Director, wider IA team, Stern at NYUAD and colleagues in New York to develop annual fundraising from alumni and students for the Annual Fund, and support developing the culture of giving at the institution.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage alumni relations programs in support of Institutional Advancement priorities. Recruit and deploy alumni volunteers supporting all aspects of NYUAD and Stern NYUAD
  • Manage the inception and launch of key volunteer programs - the Global Alumni Leadership Council and the Stern Alumni Leadership Council - coordinate council events, maintain minutes, actions and follow up from meetings
  • Support the team with delivery of key events in the Alumni Relations calendar in the UAE and globally to include Alumni Reunion Weekend
  • Engage alumni volunteers to help support admissions, internships and post-graduation careers for NYUAD and Stern NYUAD students
  • Maintain CRM systems to track participation in these programs and their impact on engagement and philanthropic efforts
  • Develop and implement student engagement program for NYU Abu Dhabi students and NYU Stern students, by executing an active program of activity to create a strong awareness of NYUAD’s alumni community and to cultivate a lifelong relationship with NYU with focus on students’ arrival and departure from NYUAD
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders including student affairs of both Stern NYUAD and NYUAD, Faculty and student government, showcasing a portfolio of opportunities for continued involvement as alumni
  • Together with the Director, build and manage a relationship with undergraduate Student Government to assist with engagement
  • Coordinate with Stern alumni team in NY to develop activity when students are in New York
  • In collaboration with the Director, Alumni Relations and Annual Giving and the AVP of UDAR
  • Annual Giving, deliver the Annual Giving Program for NYUAD and Stern at NYUAD to build appropriate class initiatives and alumni participation in giving
  • Work with existing alumni donors and Student Government to champion and advocate for student giving at NYU Abu Dhabi
  • Maintain our CRM and Communications Schedule to help facilitate alumni and student engagement
  • Manage student intern(s) for special ad hoc projects for the alumni team (e.g. alumni reunion weekend and contactability campaign)

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years in Alumni Relations
  • Demonstratable experience with event management
  • Experience of working in an international setting and building relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and creative
  • Experience with alumni relations and events
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of interacting with all levels of students, staff, faculty and alumni
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and CRM database software
  • Demonstrable experience of maintaining and growing a social media presence
  • Familiarity with presentation software and desktop publishing applications

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years in Alumni Relations and event management
  • Experience in an academic institution
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Power-point
  • Exposure to CRM database, such as Blackbaud
  • Experience of design software such as Canva
  • Experience writing compelling text and design for alumni website
  • Experience of collating and analyzing social media/mass email metrics
  • Experience of LLMs (Large Language Models) and project management software e.g. Monday.com a plus
