New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Employer Relations and Internship Coordinator, reporting to the Director, Career Development Center.

 

The Career Development Center (CDC) Employer Relations Coordinator will support the relationship management of organizations employing, or seeking to employ, NYU Abu Dhabi student talent. The Coordinator will help organize on-campus recruitment, career fairs, employer meetings and presentations. They will administratively support the employer user experience of Handshake, our career services platform, by helping employers post jobs, host events, and connect with students. Additionally, they will support the operational and administrative process of the university to hire interns from the community.

 

As an integral member of the Employer Relations team in the CDC, the Coordinator will work to ensure employers are active and engaged with students and the university by facilitating initial and ongoing outreach to organizations based on industry trends in the UAE and region, institutional priorities, and student interests. They will think strategically about how services can be made more efficient and relevant for our stakeholders which include students, alumni, and potential employers on a local, regional, and international scale. As a member of the On-Campus Student Employment Team, the Coordinator will approve payroll and respond to student employment inquiries, as well as develop protocol and processes for hiring non-student interns at the university.

Successful candidates will be able to think independently, solve problems proactively, be innovative, communicate effectively with teammates, and stay organized. The CDC strives to make data driven decisions and the Coordinator is expected to be both curious about and supportive of these insights. They will operationally support the data collection and tracking of recruitment activities across the employer relations portfolio.

 

In addition to employer facing tasks, the coordinator will be an integral part of additional projects such as summer internship grants, and ad-hoc requests as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Recruitment Operational Support & Employer Event Administration
  • Ensure employers reaching out for access to NYUAD talent are responded to in a timely fashion, fielding them in alignment with our employer relations strategy
  • Respond to requests for curated CV books
  • Advise employers on the limitations and benefits of FERPA protocol
  • Provide strong customer service for employers when it comes to recruiting students, ensuring the process is user-friendly
  • Ensure relevant career community leaders are looped in with employers about opportunities
  • Facilitate team awareness of curated opportunities and event-based recruiting windows
  • Draft and send the Emirati Newsletter re. UAE national specific opportunities
  • Manage large scale event logistics (e.g. career fairs, networking events, on-campus recruitment, employer presentations) in collaboration with Manager and Specialist
  • Seek out and confirm space for relevant employer events
  • Ensure tracking of attendance
  • Oversee Tawasul event in collaboration with Manager and Specialist
  • External Internship & Student Employment Administration
  • Administratively process non-student hires for NYUAD staff and faculty to legally employ non-students as interns
  • Develop appropriate protocol and processes, in consultation with the On-Campus Student Employment Manager to systematize non-student internships
  • Respond to student inquiries and non-student inquiries about on-campus employment, referring to hiring departments as appropriate
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Office of General Counsel, Finance, and hiring departments on onboarding, offboarding, and supervisory protocol.
  • Handshake Administration
  • Facilitate the posting of roles and the creation of company profiles on Handshake
  • Confer with NYUNY and Handshake as needed to resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Ensure employer facing student events are also logged in Handshake
  • Ensure jobs and employers get appropriate approvals
  • Review Handshake resources, updating recruitment policies and guidance documents as needed
  • Review job descriptions
  • Summer Internship Grants
  • Contribute to structure and function of the grant application and review process for internships for general summer internships
  • Conduct a review of employers for submitted applications, ensuring alignment and authenticity of offers
  • Review offer letters and compensation for benchmarking
  • Assess and iterate summer internship grant process annually
  • Industry Research & Initial Outreach
  • Assess student career interests through existing data
  • Track current events re. industry, local investments, and new ventures
  • Aggregate key networking events the team should attend
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Employer Relations, design and execute regular outreach strategies for a new employer pipeline
  • Maintain an active LinkedIn presence, engaging with employers, students and alumni
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field

 

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years
  • Strong experience with online networking platforms such as LinkedIn
  • Experience conducting outreach to organizations and pitching potential collaborations
  • Track record of creative thinking and problem solving
  • Event management experience
  • Experience with communications to students and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present NYU Abu Dhabi independently and knowledgeably
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Demonstrated ability to organize successful events which included multiple stakeholders
  • Track record of learning things quickly
  • Familiarity with the usage of CRM systems
  • Experience working with international organizations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel/Word and Google suite. Familiarity with database management
  • Ability to travel inside the UAE
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a team and external audiences
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to independently suggest solutions to problems as they arise
  • Creating newsletter, design content
