New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Employer Relations Specialist, reporting to the Associate Direct, Employer Relations of the Career Development Center. 

 

The Career Development Center (CDC) Employer Relations Specialist will support the relationship management of organizations employing, or seeking to employ, NYU Abu Dhabi student talent. The Specialist oversees student talent pipelines to STEM, Government/Public Service, Education/Social Impact and Healthcare, among others. They will help organize innovative recruitment events that build student skills and networks, and creatively connect students with career possibilities they had not previously considered in order to maximize student/employer interactions. The Specialist will consult employers about access to young talent, including industry awareness building, structured recruitment and internships. Utilizing Handshake, our career services platform, they will help employers conceptualize and post jobs and host on or off campus events.

As an integral member of the Employer Relations team in the CDC, the Specialist will work to ensure employers in their portfolio are active and engaged with students and the university through regular communication and follow up. They will ensure NYUAD student talent awareness and recruiting access at key events for their industries. They will think strategically about how services can be made more efficient and relevant for our stakeholders which include students, alumni, and potential employers on a local, regional, and international scale. The Specialist will drive innovation in his/her areas through regular alignment with global best practices at peer institutions.

 

The Specialist will implement data driven improvements to processes and procedures in the team, continually iterating employer outreach and programs. Maintaining close contact with advisors and students, the Specialist will galvanize student professional interests into action.They think independently, solve problems proactively, innovate, communicate effectively with teammates, and stay organized. In addition to employer facing tasks, the Specialist will be an integral part of additional employer projects such as advisory boards, academic internships, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Job & Internship Pipeline Development

  • Build the job and internship development pipeline with organizations in the UAE and globally, including outreach, relationship maintenance, and partnership development

  • Focused on the STEM, Health, Social Impact, Education, and Government/IR industries

  • Help organizations build capacities and vision for recruiting young talent, and creatively develop ways for organizations to interact with NYUAD student talent

  • Proactively track the labor market changes and developments, and engage in both proactive and responsive outreach to introduce NYUAD student talent

  • Refer and connect employers within the institution when there are mutually beneficial opportunities to do so

  • Experiential Learning and Boutique Recruitment

  • Craft experiential learning opportunities for students with employers outside of the traditional recruitment session and fair portfolios

  • Plan, execute, and facilitate boutique networking events, case competitions, site visits, and other opportunities to help students connect with employers directly

  • Relationship Management & Tracking

  • Support with employer tracking and relationship management using our existing tracking mechanisms and Handshake

  • Help employers appropriately engage with Handshake, being mindful of their user experience with NYUAD

  • Awareness Building of Opportunities

  • Collaborate with Advisors leading Career Communities, Student Interest Groups, and the Communication Specialist to ensure that opportunities are appropriately marketed to students

  • Other Duties As Assigned

  • Serve in other divisional or institutional capacities as required

 

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience conducting outreach and initiating relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience maintaining and enhancing ongoing relationships, ensuring continuity and creativity over time
  • Experience in navigating online networking platforms ike LinkedIn for relationship building and maintenance and outreach
  • Experience creatively solution seeking in partnerships for mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Experience managing events, including high stakes events, both large and small scale
  • Outstanding communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present NYU Abu Dhabi independently and knowledgeably
  • Ability to connect with and communicate well to university students
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Demonstrated ability to organize successful events which included multiple stakeholders
  • Track record of learning things quickly
  • Familiarity with the usage of CRM systems
  • Experience working with international organizations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel/Word and Google suite. Familiarity with database management
  • Ability to travel inside the UAE
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a team and external audiences
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to independently suggest solutions to problems as they arise
