New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Community-Based Learning Coordinator reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Program, Global Education.

 

The Community-based Learning Coordinator is responsible for supporting faculty and students through the design and implementation of community-based learning engagements throughout the UAE and for the preparation, documentation, and analysis of data generated through these engagements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support over 70 faculty per academic year in designing, organizing, and implementing community-based learning activities in the UAE
  • Organize logistics for faculty-led, course-related engagements in the community, including preparations for speakers, visits, and activities both on and off-campus in the UAE, and assist in finalizing the logistics for community engagement events
  • Maintain financial records on Google Drive
  • Build data management spreadsheets to track team workflow and continuity
  • Manage the student assistantship position within the team, including the Local Education Officers (LEOs): SA applications and onboarding, task assignment as delegated by CBL colleagues and follow-up on progress, LEO selection, training, faculty introduction, and data collection
  • Prepare monthly Tamkeen report and CBL consolidated report by collecting data and information needed from LEOs and CBL members to be reviewed by the supervisor before sharing the report with the Associate Vice Chancellor, Global Education and Outreach, and Vice Provost
  • Present information sessions to visiting students, pre-departure orientation sessions to classes engaging in off-campus community-based learning, and serve as a speaker to promote the work of the community-based learning team on and off-campus
  • Supervise in field visits, in-class guest speakers, and activities on and off campus as needed
  • Seek and research prospective community engagement programs and events through various available resources (i.e., newspapers, magazines, reliable websites, etc.)
  • Enroll in learning development courses that aid in personal and/or career growth as a CBL member
  • Any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree

Required Experience:

  • One or more years of related experience in a cross-cultural setting based in the UAE
  • Work experience in a University setting or similar
  • Experience working with the Emirati and Arabic speaking community
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Planning /implementing special events and activities
  • Excellent community network of contacts and/or proven ability to develop such a network
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (both verbal and written) and the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite Apps, Microsoft and other database applications
  • Working well both independently and in a group
  • Strong time management skills
  • Attention to detail, being well-organized, and able to multitask
