Associate Director, Research Development & Pre-Award (Fixed Term for 3 Years)

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Associate Director, Research Development & Pre-Award, reporting to the Senior Director, Research Administration & Services.

This position will assist NYUAD Faculty in pre-award grant application and submission, and will also assist in the following: managing and monitoring internal awards; Facilitate research development opportunities at NYUAD including but not limited to, finding funding, grant writing development, facilitating collaboration opportunities with local universities; liaison with OSP on Pre-award activities at NYUAD, and with Research Contracts on contractual obligations, and assist with the general operation of the Research Administration & Services Unit. This position will collaborate with the NYUAD Institutional Advancement on opportunities identified by IA. This role will also liaison with various stakeholders at NYUAD and NYU on guidelines and policies related to research at NYUAD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for researching and identifying funding sources, dissemination of funding opportunity information, and advising and assisting faculty and departmental staff in assembling grant proposals and organizing submissions for externally sponsored programs, submitting proposals adhering to strict deadlines
• Ensure grants and principal investigators are in compliance with application and/or reporting requirements, University policies, and agency guidelines
• Perform meaningful pre-award review of grant proposals
• Manage submission and tracking of faculty research proposals
• Works in close coordination with NYU’s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) on all pre-award and contract matters relating to external grants
• Responsible for facilitating the ongoing analysis of pre-award administration business processes, documenting and streamlining standard operating procedures and policy updates
• Management of Internal Competitive Programs; including organizing and tracking of proposals and review of the proposals and administrative oversight of the process
• Develops and presents communication mechanisms to include instructional and training workshops to Principal Investigators as well as the research administration constituents
• Assist in the budget development process of the Research Institute Center Grants
• Ensure the sponsored research data management system is up to date and complete, keeping detailed copies of electronic records
• Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

• Bachelors Degree

Required Experience:

• 7+ years of professional experience in sponsored programs in an academic or equivalent setting
• Grant management experience, ranging from proposal development to post-award management, is required
• Expertise with US federal regulatory compliance requirements and submission of proposals using electronic research sources
• Experience working with senior leadership and all relevant external and internal constituencies including sponsor agencies, faculty, and local research administration professionals with varying levels of experience
• Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
• Research Development experience

• Strong interpersonal, organization, communication and presenting skills

• Strong project management skills and close attention to detail is essential

• Ability to work with Faculty and Staff at all level

Preferred Education:

• Master's Degree or a professional qualification of equivalent standing
• Active certification in any of the following programs: Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA), Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA)
