NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Manager, Academic Programs and Advising, to join the Stern at NYUAD team. NYU Stern School of Business and NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) have partnered to offer the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program and the two-year part-time Executive MBA (EMBA) program. The launch of two MBA programs signifies a new era of advanced business education that will support the growth of knowledge-based economies in the region. It is a transformative educational opportunity for students from around the world that are looking to establish or further their careers in the MENA region.

The Manager will assist the Associate Director, Academic Programs and Advising in all aspects of academic planning of the Stern at NYUAD one-year MBA program and the two-year EMBA program. The Manager will also work closely with the Associate/Assistant Director of EMBA and other Programs, Advising and Student Experience (PASE) colleagues on academic planning, student advising, and student success. Provide coordination and support in the delivery of critical functions, including curriculum development and delivery, review of academic programs, data management, assessment, resource management, and student success. Ensure smooth execution of advising, including on program progress, specializations, electives, academic performance, co-curricular engagement, and others. Support the Doing Business In (DBi) program with regard to faculty staffing and logistics.. Coordinate with faculty and other stakeholders on course planning, and ensure the effective delivery of a high quality student educational experience. Serve on the team planning and delivering student orientation and onboarding.

The Manager is a key member of the Programs, Advising and Student Experience (PASE) team at Stern at NYUAD.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Course Planning and Management

 

  • Support the Associate Director Academic Programs and Advising on all aspects of academic planning and advising for the MBA and EMBA programs, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the unique academic needs and program structures of both student populations
  • Contribute to curriculum development, review of academic programs, and resource management with a focus on proactive identification of opportunities for innovation, which included taking on the responsibility of creating the academic calendar and shell for both programs
  • Provide administrative support for Abu Dhabi course planning, including scheduling and staffing courses, and all course-related logistics are complete for both the MBA program and the EMBA program, as well as ongoing monitoring of these aspects throughout the year
  • Identify areas where course-related planning could be improved or enhanced, including analyzing data and feedback from both students and faculty to recommend program-specific enhancements
  • Develop and foster effective collaboration between faculty, staff, and appropriate NYUAD services to ensure an integrated approach to the implementation of the program goals and objectives
  • Refer students to relevant resources at Stern at NYUAD, NYUAD, and NYU Stern. Assist the Associate Director Academic Programs and Advising on all aspects of academic planning, contributing to curriculum development, review of academic programs, and resource management with a focus on proactive identification of opportunities for innovation
  • Refer students in both the MBA and EMBA programs to relevant resources at Stern at NYUAD, NYUAD, and NYU Stern

Academic Advising

  • Active member of the Stern at NYUAD academic advising team directly supporting MBA and EMBA students and contributing to their student academic success
  • Developing Academic Advising Frameworks: Contribute to the development and implementation of academic advising policies and procedures for both the MBA and EMBA programs
  • Student Advising: Hold regular advising sessions with students to discuss course selection, academic progress, specialization options, academic difficulties, and co-curricular engagement
  • Academic Performance Monitoring: Track student academic performance, identifying students who may be struggling, and developing intervention strategies
  • Developing Academic Support Resources and Connecting Students with these Resources: Potentially creating guides, workshops, or other resources to support student academic success. Serving as a key point of contact for students seeking academic support and connecting them with relevant resources within NYUAD, NYU Stern, and the broader NYU network
  • Collaboration with Faculty on Student Progress: Contribute to the implementation of structured faculty-student performance monitoring systems across both programs. As a member of the advising team, facilitate collaborative faculty engagement to identify at-risk students and develop coordinated intervention strategies
  • Contributing to Academic Integrity Processes: Understanding and potentially participating in processes related to academic integrity

Course Registration and Staffing

  • Manage, in consultation with the Associate Director Academic Programs and Advising, the registration process for both MBA and EMBA students for core and elective courses; collaborate with the Registrar’s office to ensure accuracy, monitor progress, and implement improvements to streamline the process
  • Coordinate faculty onboarding needs with members of the PASE, faculty affairs and IT teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at existing and potential partner schools

Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure academic policies, procedures, systems, and protocols are updated and accessible to students and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with faculty and other stakeholders on policies and procedures, and ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality student educational experience
  • Assess, advocate, and identify solutions for the needs and concerns of students. Serve on Stern at NYUAD committees including student conduct committee, new student orientation, and Commencement

Coordination and Events Management

  • In coordination with the academic advising team, conceptualize, develop, and execute projects focused on enhancing academic planning and student success. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and delivery of workshops (e.g., electives and specializations), the creation of resources for academic advising, and the implementation of strategies to improve student engagement
  • Coordinate and integrate activities between internal and external services, to facilitate academic planning, program delivery, and advising. Coordinate cross-functional projects, such as the implementation of the Change Studio initiative and the integration of Global DEIA principles into the curriculum, ensuring effective collaboration and successful outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with the Student Experience team to identify opportunities to enhance the student experience, contributing to orientation and onboarding programs
  • Additional duties as required

Expense Tracking

  • Track contracts and expenses related to student employees, and other program needs

Student Workers

  • Supervise student workers, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance

Assessment Reports

  • Prepare and compile the end of module reports, including course evaluations for both the MBA and EMBA programs, requiring the ability to analyze and synthesize data from different formats and feedback mechanisms specific to each program
  • Prepare reports on student academic progress, feedback, and other data for both internal and external stakeholders, encompassing the progress of both MBA and EMBA students and potentially requiring the development of new reporting templates and metrics to capture the unique characteristics of the EMBA program

 

 

 

Qualifications

Required Education: 

  • Bachelors Degree

Required Experience: 

  • 7+ years experience in academic program management and advising experience in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, tenured faculty, alumni and senior administrators
  • Ability to create policy and advise students
  • Strong project management, detail orientation, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of standard office software, including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Education: 

  • Masters Degree in Higher Education Administrations or Business

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of education-related advising models, and curriculum development
  • Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in Stern at NYU and NYUAD systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards
