New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Director, Core Technology Platforms Operations reporting to theAssociate Vice Provost, Research Operations and Infrastructure.

The Director of Core Technology Platforms (CTP) Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for NYU Abu Dhabi’s shared core research infrastructure. The role ensures safe, efficient, and effective research services that advance NYUAD’s academic and institutional goals. Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Research Operations and Infrastructure (ROI), the Director stewards a portfolio of multi-disciplinary core facilities (including, but not limited to: Advanced Manufacturing & Electronics; Analytical & Materials Characterization; Biomedical Imaging; High Throughput Screening; Kinesis; Light Microscopy; Marine Sciences; Micro Fabrication; Molecular & Cell Biology; Photonics; Spectrometry & Spectroscopy; Sequencing) and leads the evolution of this portfolio as research needs grow and change.

The Director is a principal advisor to NYUAD leadership on research infrastructure strategy, facility enhancement, and technology upgrades. The incumbent establishes and executes multiyear strategic and operational plans; drives a strong culture of safety and service; ensures regulatory compliance; and fosters transparent, two-way communication with the research community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff and Budget Management: Directs and develops a diverse team of scientific specialists, technologists, and administrators. Prepares and manages the annual budgets and monitors expenditure against plan. Oversees workforce planning and performance management
• Equipment and Infrastructure Stewardship: Leads specification, procurement, installation, maintenance, calibration, and lifecycle management of advanced research instrumentation and facilities. Ensures timely service contracts and vendor performance
• Policy, Training and User Support: Develops, updates, and enforces policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Designs and oversees mandatory training programs for safe and effective use of platforms. Works closely with faculty, researchers, and students to provide technical guidance and educational support
• Innovation and Technology Foresight: Remains current with emerging technologies and trends by participating in conferences, workshops, and professional networks. Benchmarks peer institutions and evaluates CTP capabilities against global standards
• Strategic and Operational Planning: Works with AVP ROI and leadership to develop and maintain multiyear strategic and operational plans. Identifies and communicates risks, opportunities, and issues that impact research operations

Required Education:

• Doctoral Degree in Science or Engineering field

Required Experience:

• 7 years or more strong background in university laboratory operations and the use and management of advanced research and teaching equipment
• 5 years or more experience working in higher education or research institute laboratories
• 2 years or more experience working in management level in higher education or research institutions
• Experience in setting up, maintaining and developing university research level laboratories
• Current knowledge of advanced scientific equipment and of contemporary developments in research techniques
• Experience in dealing with research grade equipment from manufacturers and suppliers worldwide and locally
• Speaks, reads, and writes English fluently including technical terms
