    New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Prototyping Advisor and Community Trainer on a part-time, fixed term basis.

     

    The Prototyping Advisor and Community Trainer is responsible to work closely with the Innovation Engineer and is expected to design and execute tech workshops for the Abu Dhabi community members on various topics such as 3D printing, laser cutting, python coding, Java, Arduino, RaspberryPi, technologies around robotics and drones and AI. The candidate will also work closely with local entrepreneurs/students/hardware startups and assist them with prototyping in the startAD lab during open hours.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create and deliver world-class tech workshops for UAE community members
    • Mentor and advise students, community members, and hardware startups on prototyping, and manufacturing of physical, electrical, mechanical, and computational projects

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics/Computer Engineering / Computer Science

    Preferred Education:

    • Masters Degree in Engineering with focus on Mechatronics and/or Robotics; or,
    • Masters Degree in Product or Industrial Design with undergraduate in Engineering

    Required Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an engineering capacity with experience in Robotics, 3D CAD Design, Electronics Prototyping, Mechanical Prototyping, Code Prototyping, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Java, Python, Arduino, RaspberryPi
    • 3D CAD Design, Electronics Prototyping, Mechanical Prototyping, Code Prototyping, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, inventory management, Processing, OpenFrameworks, C++, Arduino, RaspberryPi, Python.
    • Organizational skills
    • Ability to think creatively

    Preferred Experience:

    • Previous experience working in a tech startup
    • Ability to think creatively
    • Ability to deliver tech workshops to community members that might have no technical background 
    • Inventory management
    • Understanding and familiarity with Lean startup methods
    • Research and understanding of current drone and robotic technologies
    • Experience in an academic setting working closely with students and student groups
    • Ability to work well in small teams
    • Ability to deliver tech workshops to community members that might have no technical background
