    New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Public Safety Security System Administrator and Project Manager reporting to the Director, Public Safety Operations.

     

    The  Public Safety Security System Administrator and Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring all Security System electronic architecture is fully functioning and supportive to daily security operations.  In depth knowledge of CCTV, Electronic Access Control/ID Card Management systems and other electronic security systems ‘on the edge’ products are also a core responsibility for this position.  Conducting feasibility studies involving potential Security Systems or applications under consideration by user departments. It also requires investigating potential electronic security solutions and recommending courses of action to ensure people assets and infrastructure are safeguarded. Requires the ability to prepare detailed project analysis plans for implementing proposed Security System products and associated cost projections. To coordinate with successful vendors to determine the overall system implementation flow, programs, and procedures to accomplish the various tasks. The incumbent will coordinate and supervise the implementation, integration, programming and testing/commissioning of the installed Security System equipment and software. The individual will also provide and/or coordinate the training necessary for successful operation. Review and accept the necessary security system operation and procedure manuals required from vendors.  The administrator will be able to concisely compile relevant daily security System operating reports and logs.

     

    This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of the NYU Abu Dhabi community and protection of its assets. The position will manage and improve the enterprise, global systems that are fundamental and critical to the physical security technology program. The position will execute Public Safety Policy University-wide for the operation and maintenance of access control and security video systems.  Implement established protocols related to access permissions. The position will propose feedback on the creation of standard operating procedures for the use of new technologies implemented through departmental and capital projects.

     

    This position requires in depth knowledge of technical Security Systems, prior experience with the ‘Lenel’ system and infrastructure to Enterprise level is essential. 

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct involvement in design, development, installation and maintenance of Lenel based Access Control architecture and technology (hardware and software).  Implementation of CCTV and other electronic security equipment, such as Vehicle Search Systems, Vehicle Barriers, Perimeter Intruder Detection Systems (PIDS).  Having knowledge and understanding of complex specialist environments such as Campus Educational Environments, Laboratories, Art Centers, Conference Centers and Hotel style accommodation requirements and needs (in example) is a requirement for this role
    • Supervises technical and support personnel and vendors through the various stages of a project.  Interfaces with the established Security System Maintenance Support Vendor to ensure faults and equipment are changed or restored to operational effectiveness, to ensure daily operations is supported, through to testing and commissioning phases.

      This position will have the responsibility for managing and improving a large and complex access control, video and security application. The position requires the incumbent to respond both tactically and strategically to security risks and technical issues and planning with far reaching impact
    • Keeps up to date knowledge of Security System ‘state of the art’ technological development and able to recommend the purchase of hardware and software, to provide a fully integrated technology security solution to support daily security operations. Determines the necessary personnel, physical environment, hardware, procedures and supply costs connected with the proposed systems
    • Conducts feasibility studies and Security Advisory Visits on proposed systems and submits recommendations to supervisors and department Directors.  Provides effective technical and analytical support for Security Systems operations and failure analysis. Resolves implementation and operational problems with personnel and vendors
    • Coordinates development of training materials for operators and system users with vendors and training personnel.  Trains operators and users. Educates staff on operating Security System and software usage

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or a university with a major in an electronic or engineering related field

    Required Experience:

    • Minimum of five years’ experience as an Installer and system commissioning technician
    • Minimum of one year supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience and interface with clients or vendors
    • Knowledge of Security System Architecture and Equipment, systems analysis, database design and

    • Lenel Enterprise Server Management

    • Skills in planning and organizing

    • Skills in personnel management

    • Ability to supervise and direct the work activities of Security Vendor Maintenance Staff and other related personnel

    • Ability to recognize and solve technical problems

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and with outside agencies and vendors to coordinate complex database and applications software and hardware activities

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
