    New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Director Learning and Organizational Development, reporting to the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer - Employee Relations, Learning and Engagement. The Director in conjunction with HR Senior leadership and University leadership will formulate strategy and set direction for talent development, learning, and organizational development programs.

    The Director will lead planning, development and delivery of classroom-based and online professional and leadership development programming that address development needs of leaders and staff.  They will also lead, plan and deliver organizational development interventions across the University, and provide strategic direction on such interventions for the Learning & Organizational Development team. The incumbent will consult with HR Business Partners on organization design and effectiveness, organizational assessments, and plans.  In addition the individual will lead, develop and implement interventions, including custom training, organizational retreats and planning sessions etc. to address organizational gaps and needs.

    In partnership with the Deputy CHRO, Employee Relations, Learning & Engagement, the Director will engage with university leadership to understand business objectives and desired results, leveraging information provided by the Director, HR Business Partners. Develop a Learning & Organizational Development strategy to deliver optimal learning and organizational development outcomes.  They will be responsible to lead learning by creating a community of practitioners to promote synergy, best practices and return on learning investment.  Designs, acquires or adapts on-line performance management system, e-learning and training management learning systems and tools. Develop and implement talent development strategies and initiatives for Emirati employee population to support NYUAD’s Emiratization goal 


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Engage with university leadership to understand business objectives and desired results, leveraging information provided by the Director, HR Business Partners
    • Lead planning, development and delivery of  learning and organizational development solutions based on research of current trends, appropriate to the context of the University
    • Partner with leadership and HR Business Partners to build organizational trust and develop change-readiness and resilience in people and teams, in order to facilitate change initiatives proactively, and also in response to external changes when necessary
    • Identify strategies with the overall Learning & Organizational strategic plan that supports growing leadership capability, incorporating a people management approach that emphasizes coaching and development. Provide leadership coaching to further improve leader performance. Provide a consulting partnership service to leaders of support and administrative divisions to improve effectiveness and performance
    • Ensure delivery of high-quality programs and generate enthusiasm and commitment of leaders and staff, in order to create a strong learning culture
    • Oversee the systems, processes and resources that enable the delivery of a high-quality Learning and Organizational Development service
    • Develops and leads a team that manages university training programs, vendor relationships, National development, LMS operations, career development, performance management and provides oversight of NYU e-learning resources


    Required Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Human Resources Management or related area
    • Professional education and certification in talent development areas Certification in talent assessments and coaching

    Preferred Education:  

    • Master’s degree in Education or Human Resources Management or related area

    Required Experience:

    • 10+ years of progressively responsible professional level experience in the design and delivery of training and development programs, at least 3 of which includes working in senior L&D capacity
    • Proven team building and group facilitation skills
    • Ability to communicate/function in an academic environment across levels including senior leaders
    • Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal skills 
    • Supervisory skills to lead and mentor a team
