New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Director of Government Relations reporting to the Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice Chancellor.
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice Chancellor and in collaboration and partnership with Chief Counsel, the Director of Government Relations is responsible for liaison activities with local government agencies, institutions and businesses on behalf of the University. Establishes and manages key contacts to facilitate desirable outcomes for university students, faculty, staff and departments when interaction with local institutions requires further assistance. Follows and ensures compliance with University policy and procedure in the delivery of assigned services. Facilitates and manages relationships and routinely meets with governmental agencies such as labor office, ministries, health authorities, civil defense, police departments, courts, etc. Provides support and processing assistance required by various university departments in connection with local and governmental law enforcement, security permissions, corporate registration/license related requirements, and related institutional documentation and certification. Provides assistance to individuals in the University community as requested and assigned by the Office of the Vice Chancellor, the Chief Administrative Business Officer, and Provost’s Office.
Computer literacy with a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Problem solving - the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully
Excellent fluency in English & Arabic
Strong oral and written communication- speaks clearly and persuasively in all situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and is able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
