New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Internal Communications Coordinator to join the Public Affairs and Communications team, reporting to the Internal Communications Manager.


The Internal Communications Coordinator is responsible for implementing an integrated and comprehensive internal communications strategy, which reflects the University’s vision and core goals and aligns with the broader communications strategy led by the Public Affairs and Communications team.  This position will assist in implementing a proactive and effective central internal communications process for NYU Abu Dhabi, working with members of the Public Affairs and Communications team as well as others across the University to implement an effective internal communications program and ensure that internal audiences are kept informed of relevant developments and messages. This position will assist with compiling and analyzing data and distributing communications to the community, as required. In addition, this position will assist with key internal communications channels including internal announcements and digital signage.  This position will support copy-editing, while upholding University editorial guidelines, and will assist with issues management and urgent communications as needed.  At times this position may be asked to support at internal events, such as Commencement and Ride for Zayed, and work with other NYUAD teams on important university initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Internal Communications Manager to develop newsletter content for various newsletters to various internal stakeholders
  • Assist in measuring the impact of communications activity and adjust messaging, tone, and channels to ensure they achieve the optimal impact
  • Pull internal reports quarterly for stakeholders from internal systems
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date databases of all internal communicators using Emma and their training tracking
  • Manage digital signage
  • Liaise with the Brand team to ensure submissions are compliant with Brand
  • Guidelines prior to posting
  • Communications Support
  • Author original content, edit content submissions and assist in the development and delivery of urgent messages, newsletters, announcements, web, and intranet communications as required
  • Create and maintain an editorial internal communications calendar for recurring events for the University to feed into the Internal Communications strategy
  • Act as an advocate and ambassador for Public Affairs and Communications as well as Internal Communications championing our Editorial Guidelines and Visual Identity Guidelines
  • Assist with editing divisional and departmental newsletters to ensure Editorial and Brand Guidelines compliance
  • Assist with developing training presentations and other internal communications materials as required
  • Provide guidance on internal communication newsletter and digital signage submissions from stakeholders
  • Assist with updating the Internal Communications intranet pages
  • Assist in University events such as Commencement, Ride for Zayed
  • Assist in urgent communications when required
  • Plan team building activities and events



Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • At least two years’ experience in a communications capacity
  • Ability to deliver comprehensive internal communications strategies for complex organizations
  • Superior written and oral communications skills in English
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and to provide guidance and assistance to university stakeholders as required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability in working with diverse groups of people and navigating cultural differences with respect
  • Understanding of new trends in communications channels and strategy
  • Managing projects from concept to execution
  • Superior ability to analyze and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Able to self-motivate and take initiative
  • Desire to learn
  • A desire to break down silos and keep people informed
  • Detail oriented
  • People person


Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with Photoshop, content management systems, and design software such as InDesign
  • Familiarity with any project management software
