New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Events & Business Initiatives Manager to report to the Director, Commercial & University Events.


The Events & Business Initiatives Manager supports the day to day activities of the Commercial & University Events Office, understands the roles of various departments within the university and helps identify opportunities to enhance and cultivate relationships with various internal & external stake holders. The ideal candidate will work on special projects and major events within the Commercial and University Events office, oversee contract development and negotiation for both internal & external requests, integrate requirements for both internal & external deliverables and setting expectations to various service providers for a successful delivery, and ensure compliance of NYUAD policies and procedures related to the Commercial & University Events including EHS, SCC, procurement and finance at all times



Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Director on Special Projects
  • NYU Abu Dhabi’s Annual Commencement Exercises and other major events while planning and delivering assigned tasks including development and execution of communication plan for various events
  • Serve as a resource and support in the day to day planning & execution of Commercial and University Events in a seamless and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with various teams within External Relations office and other departments in the University to encourage awareness, teamwork and open communication for departmental & institutional success.
  • Ensures compliance of NYUAD policies and procedures related to the Commercial & University Events including EHS, compliance, procurement and finance at all times
  • Takeover responsibilities of events manager/s during their vacation and unplanned absence
  • Responsible for updating office procedures and events guidelines on regular basis


Required Education:

  • BSc/BA in business administration
  • UAE Driving License


Required Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a higher education setting within UAE
  • Strong analytical background & problem solving skills
  • Project management experience
  • Events planning and operational experience
  • Ability to work with & oversee multiple teams
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Extremely organized/excellent time management skills
  • Strong research and strategic analytical skills
  • Exemplary spoken & written English
  • Ability to liaise with high level stake holders
  • Confident in handling presentations and briefings
  • Cultural awareness
  • People’s Person
  • High competency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Available to work on Weekends, holidays & evenings as and when required

Preferred Experience: 

  • Working with government organization a plus
  • AV knowledge a plus
